What Your Strengths BRING & What They NEED to Thrive
Today's article provides a new resource for you to learn more about what our strengths BRING to your team, and what they NEED to feel energized and truly thrive.
In all of my CliftonStrengths Team workshops, I provide participants with a a "Bring / Need" report for their Top 10 CliftonStrengths®. This tool helps people understand what they naturally contribute to a team—and what they require to feel engaged and energized.
Exciting news! Gallup has now made this information easily accessible for all 34 CliftonStrengths on their website!

Why Does This Matter?
Understanding the Bring / Need statements for your strengths can reduce frustration, improve communication, and enhance collaboration—whether you’re an individual contributor or leading a team. If you're focused on personal growth, improving team dynamics or building stronger relationships, these statements help clarify the value each person adds to a partnership and what they need from it for success.
For Example:
✅ Responsibility®: You bring dependability and loyalty. But you need freedom to take ownership. If a manager constantly checks in on you, it might feel like micromanagement.
✅ Includer®: You bring awareness of who’s being left out and a high level of tolerance with acceptance of diversity. You need to see that everyone has a seat at the table and that there's room for everyone. If inclusivity is overlooked, it could feel discouraging.

How to Apply This Today
Use this simple formula to communicate your needs to colleagues or managers:
“I need {need statement} so that I can {bring statement}.”
“When I'm missing {need statement}, it’s hard for me to {bring statement}.”
